Cook County |
As the primary source of revenue for the Cook County of Illinois, the mission of the Assessor’s Office is to identify and assign a value to every parcel of property within the County and to administer assessment related programs.
Property Assessment
Problem
The Assessor’s Office methods, procedures, and processes currently depend on intensive manual operations aided primarily by batch process software execution within the County IBM Mainframe. The Office Automation Plan was developed and implemented to improve the efficiency of the operations, to eliminate duplication of data and effort, to improve the objective basis for property assessment, and to improve taxpayer satisfaction with property appraisal methods, procedures, processes, and results.
Solution
With the deployment of Savvion BusinessManager, the Assessor's Office is now able to provide automation of the business processes, improve their capability to manage the complex data, while reducing their dependence on paper documents. A number of public sector and land assessment specific systems were integrated as part of the solution including mainframe based record and imaging and a mass appraisal and valuaton system. In addition, the solution has been designed to be easily modified to support changes in process or legislation.
